Roland N/VISION: Roland’s First Dedicated Wavetable Hardware Synth Arrives in Boutique Form

October 26, 2026 · Style For Musician · Roland News

Roland has released the N/VISION, its first dedicated hardware wavetable synthesizer, in the company’s compact Boutique format. Announced on October 20, 2026, the instrument takes the wavetable principles of the Enzyme software synthesizer found in the Roland Fantom EX and puts them into a standalone hardware box.

At its core, the N/VISION is a dual-layer wavetable synth with up to 50 voices of polyphony shared between the two layers. Each voice carries two wavetable oscillators, and each oscillator offers 63 wavetables with 127 positions, plus position scanning, random position control, LFO modulation — including a step LFO with key-trigger options — and a dedicated oscillator envelope alongside the amp and filter envelopes. A layer mix modulation control and a global waveshaper add further ways to blend and distort the two layers against each other.

The filter section is equally deep. It offers cutoff, resonance, envelope and LFO amount controls, with low-pass, band-pass and high-pass types at 12 or 24 dB per octave, plus vintage-style Roland, M-style and S-style filter characters. A three-step drive control changes the filter’s character from clean to saturated, giving sound designers a fast route from smooth pads to aggressive basses.

Effects are handled globally, with delay and reverb — including standard and shimmer reverb modes with times up to 10 seconds — plus layer spread, a Juno-106-style chorus, and additional MFX types covering delays, reverse delay, overdrive, fuzz, bitcrush, lo-fi compression and pitch shifting. It is a generous effects set for an instrument of this size, and it means the N/VISION can produce finished, polished sounds without reaching for outboard gear.

As with other Boutique instruments, the N/VISION ships with the K25M keyboard unit, this time with matching white side panels, turning the module into a playable keyboard synth. Connectivity includes full-size MIDI in and out, audio input, stereo output, headphones, and USB-C audio. The unit runs on USB power or four AA batteries, and with the Roland driver, USB-C carries multi-channel audio to a DAW — a useful detail for producers who want to record the synth alongside a computer setup.

The N/VISION is available now, with shipping expected at the end of October 2026. Recommended pricing is £592 or €699. For players who have waited for Roland to bring wavetable synthesis into hardware, this small white box is a significant moment — and a sign that the Boutique line still has new ideas in it.
